The GenNow Network Seattle, WA chapter brings together members from the community to support the American Cancer Society. Since 2022 we have continued to see growth in our impact and look forward to what is ahead for us.

We are proud of all the efforts of our chapter, especially our first annual Fork Cancer event selling out in 2024 bringing together community leaders, partners and volunteers to raise funds to support our mission.

I joined YPACS in November 2022 and jumped right in with the Marketing Committee, helping to co-lead the inaugural honoree program for the signature event last year. I joined YPACS for a few reasons: first, cancer has significantly impacted my family, so I am passionate about ACS and the opportunities/funding it offers; second, I wanted a way to network with other professionals in the Seattle area!

I have worked at Seattle Children’s for almost 8 years, and am currently the Manager for Executive Administration. I hold a Master’s Degree in Industrial-Organizational Psychology, which is the study of human behavior in the workplace. I have lived in Washington state my entire life, but moved from the east side of the state to Seattle 8 years ago with my husband & two cats. Outside of work and YPACS, I enjoy trying new coffeeshops, traveling, & going to Seattle Kraken games!

I joined YPACS in October 2022, and starting in 2023, I joined the Membership Committee as Lead of Volunteerism, so I love going to ACS events with other YPACS volunteers! I joined YPACS, because my family was also impacted by cancer, and like all of you, I want to see it gone for good.

Outside of YPACS, I live in Seattle and work at Proliance Surgeons Group. A fun fact about me is that while I grew up in the Seattle area, but I have also lived in the New Orleans, Chicago, and DC metropolitan areas, so if you have any connections to any of those places, come chat with me!

Mission

ACS GenNow Network chapters implement mission-centric opportunities for members and supporters to further ACS initiatives.

The American Cancer Society is the leading cancer-fighting organization with a vision to end cancer as we know it, for everyone. Together are improving the lives of people with cancer and their families as the only organization combating cancer through advocacy, research, and patient support, to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to prevent, detect, treat, and survive cancer.

ACS GenNow Network educates members on the mission and vision of the American Cancer Society and integrates these into chapter activities. Chapters are encouraged to provide opportunities to support ACS patient support programs and services and fundraising activities (participate in other fundraising events, serve as program volunteers, etc.)

Mentorship

ACS GenNow Network members are offered opportunities for professional development and networking with other members and chapters.

We value the opportunity to leverage the strength of our GenNow Network along with our strength as the American Cancer Society in order to help provide members opportunities for professional development through mentorship from other members and/or ACS contacts.

By creating opportunities for members to expand their personal and professional networks within the community, we allow for involvement within the chapter to benefit our members in a variety of ways.

Impact

ACS GenNow Network chapters host unique, memorable events to engage communities in raising funds to help end cancer as we know it, for everyone.
